I'm beginning
to understand the difference between impulse, intuition and inkling.
Impulse, Intuition and Inklings
Impulse is the child in me who wants to grab goodies, lash out in
anger, weep at disappointment. If I act on impulse, things get worse not better.
Intuition is accompanied by a flush of enlightenment. If I ignore
it, it's almost always a problem.
Inklings come earlier than intuition. Inklings come from my gut.
If I get an inkling - BAM! - nowadays I act on it. By acting on inkling I'm doing
things faster and am experiencing higher levels of success.
And now for the science bit...
In the book Blink, Malcolm Gladwell reports that people, asked to pick
cards from two packs to beat one selected by computer, began to favour the pack
which had - unknown to them - been doctored to win. When asked why, they couldn't
say. They were acting on inkling. Our unconscious mind is enormously powerful.
We ignore it at our peril.
The Invitation
Acting on inkling will help you beat the odds. I've written a four stage guide
to help you do it. If you want the guide - BAM! - email me now for it. |
